This article provides details on how to set up Nexar Groups with your iOS device. It covers the steps for creating a group, adding or removing group members, and leaving or deleting the group. Please note that this feature is not compatible with Nexar One dash cams.
What is Nexar Groups?
Nexar Groups help you look after the people you care about – even when they're miles away. We’ve all experienced that worried feeling when a friend or family member gets into a vehicle and drives away. You just want them to arrive safely. Ever ask someone to let you know as soon as they get home safely? Well, you don’t need to anymore.
With Nexar Groups, we’ll send you an immediate Alert if a loved one is involved in a traffic incident or made a hard brake. The Group Alerts include the dash cam video to understand what happened, and in the case of an accident, directions to their location so that you can spring into action as quickly as possible. You’ll also get a push notification when a member of the group starts driving – and another one when they reach their destination.
The Nexar Groups feature is available for iOS phones paired or connected to a Nexar Pro, Beam, NEXC1, NEXC2, or NEXS1 dash cam. If you have a Nexar One dash cam, you can set up Emergency Contacts instead.
What is Collision Alert?
If your Nexar dash cam detects that any member of your Group has been in a collision, we'll alert the other members of the Group through SMS. The alert includes your location, dash cam video and contact details so they can spring into action.
How Does Collision Alert Work?
All Nexar dash cams detect collisions in 360°. When an impact is detected and the driver is a member of a Nexar Group, a Collision Alert will be sent to all members inside the Group.
How Are Collisions Detected?
Collisions are detected by the Nexar Classic app as long as the following requirements are being met:
Your phone is supported by Nexar.
Your phone isn’t low on battery.
You have the latest version of the Nexar Classic app.
Your Nexar Classic app is connected to a Nexar dash cam in your vehicle.
You have good reception (eg, Collision Alert won’t work in underground parking garages).
Your phone is in a stable position, such as in your pocket, phone holder or glove compartment.
You have your phone with you and you’ve turned on WiFi and Bluetooth, set Location permission to “Allow all the time”, and set “Cellular Data” usage to on.
You aren’t on a call at the time of the incident or, if you are, you end the call quickly. If you don’t end the call or wait too long before ending it, Collision Alert might not work at all.
We do our best to be there when you need us most. On rare occasions, even if all the above criteria are met, we might not detect all accidents due to a variety of reasons, such as network outages.

Additionally, sometimes our technology detects what it thinks is an accident but in reality was either a close call or a small fender bender. In these situations, we would prefer to send an Accident Alert, just to be on the safe side.
How to Create a Nexar Group?
To create a Nexar Group in the Nexar Classic app, do the following:
1. Open the Nexar Classic app.
2. Tap on More > Groups > Create a Group.
3. Invite team members from your contacts list.
4. Choose a Group name.
5. Make sure your dash cam is paired.
6. Hit the road.
How to Add a Nexar Group Member?
If you want to add someone as a Nexar Group member in the Nexar Classic app, do the following:
1. Open the Nexar Classic app.
2. Tap More > Groups.
3. Choose the Group where the new member will be added on the upper middle part of the screen.
4. Tap the cogwheel icon on the upper right corner of the screen.
5. Tap Add group members.
6. Invite members from your phone’s Contact list.
7. Tap Done.
The invited member will receive an invitation notification when the user opens the Nexar Classic app and can choose to Join or Decline

How to Leave a Nexar Group?
If you are a member and would like to leave or be removed from a Group, please do the following:
1. Go to Nexar Classic app > More > Groups.
2. Tap the cogwheel icon on the upper right corner of the screen.
3. Tap the Leave Group button.
How to Delete a Nexar Group?
To delete a Group member, follow the steps below. Please note that only the group admin has access to this option.
1. Go to Nexar Classic app > More > Groups.
2. Tap the cogwheel icon on the upper right corner of the screen.
3. Tap Delete group.

Is Nexar Groups available on Android?
The Nexar Groups feature is only available for iOS.
Can I be in more than one Group?
You can create multiple Groups or be part of different Groups in the Nexar Classic app. In order to create a second Group, tap on the arrow next to your current Group name on the top of the screen. In the drop down that appears, tap Create new group. To switch between different Groups press on that arrow and the drop down menu will display all of your Groups.
How do I know who the Group admin is?
Admins will have an admin badge next to their names. To see, from the Group page, tap on the cogwheel icon at the top of the screen to enter your Group settings.
What is the role of the Group admin?
The Group admin has the following benefits:
1. They can remove members from the Group
2. They can delete the Group
3. They can set Group members as additional group admins
Can there be more than one admin in the Group?
The Group admin can make any member an additional Group admin. To make another Group member an admin, tap on the name of the member in the settings screen. In the menu that appears, tap Make admin. The new admin will now be able to remove Group members and delete the Group.
Can members join the Group without being connected to a dash cam?
Anyone who has an iPhone and Nexar Classic app installed can join, but those members will only have limited safety features. With a Nexar dash cam, we can detect sudden brakes and accidents, and gather more accurate updates about other Group members. I've been invited to a Group, but I don't have the Nexar Classic app. What should I do?
To be part of a Nexar Group, you need to have the Nexar Classic app installed on your phone. To do that:
1. If you're on iOS, you can download the Nexar Classic app by pressing on the link in the invitation SMS or by searching for Nexar in the App Store.
2. Sign up to Nexar using the phone number that received the invitation SMS.
3. Join the Group by clicking Join at the top of the activity screen
