Unable to Retrieve Nexar One Video Recordings

Updated over a year ago

This article will guide you in resolving issues with retrieving your Nexar One video recordings.

Why Are My Nexar One Drives Only Showing the Map or Route of the Drive but Not the Video?

The Nexar One begins recording to its internal memory upon power-up. When linked to the Nexar app during driving, it also transfers video backups to your phone's storage.

Drive recordings not saved in the Nexar app appear as cards with gray thumbnails, displaying only the drive's route on a map. Cards with gray thumbnails and only routes on maps typically result from WIFI interferences between the app and the dash cam while you were driving.

Explore the steps below to ensure your drives are consistently recorded in the app and learn how to retrieve videos that were not recorded.

What to Do to Avoid the Nexar One Not Recording in the Nexar App?

To ensure that your Nexar One drives are automatically saved on the Nexar app, we recommend the following:

Please ensure that you are only using the original cable, mount, and Nexar-provided power accessory that came with the camera to avoid any potential issues.

1. Make sure you have sufficient phone storage for your drive recordings.

2. Enable your phone's WIFI, Bluetooth, Location, and cellular data.

3. Disconnect from other WIFI networks on your phone.

4. Turn off Low Power Mode (iOS) or Power Saving Mode (Android) in the phone's Settings app.

5. Disable WiFi-interfering functions like CarPlay, Android Auto, VPN apps, antivirus apps, or security apps.

6. Inspect the Nexar One's power port, cable, mount, and charger for physical damage.

7. Ensure the car's power port is consistently supplying power.

8. Set up automatic streaming for a smoother driving experience.

What to Do When Parts of the Video Recordings Are Missing in the Nexar App

When the Nexar app and dash cam weren't connected during certain drives, the app will show which parts of the video are stored and can be retrieved from Nexar One's internal memory. Follow these steps to recover missing parts of the video:

1. Plug the dash cam to power

2. Turn off Low Power Mode (iOS) or Power Saving Mode (Android) in the phone's Settings app.

3. Turn on the phone's Bluetooth and WiFi network

4. Wait until the Nexar One's blue/white light stops blinking

5. Open the Nexar app and wait until the dash cam status says Recording

6. Tap Videos below the screen

7. Select the drive you want to save

8. Click Save to cloud

9. For Nexar One with a cabin view add-on, swipe left on the video to switch to cabin view

10. Trim the relevant part and click Save clip
