This article will guide you in resolving issues with retrieving your NEXS1 and NEXC1 video recordings.
Why Are My NEXS1 or NEXC1 Drives Only Showing the Map or Route of the Drive but Not the Video?
The NEXS1 and NEXC1 always record to its SD card as soon as it's powered on. If connected to the Nexar Classic app while driving, it will also back up videos to your phone's memory.
Drive recordings not saved in the Nexar Classic app appear as cards with gray thumbnails, displaying only the drive's route on a map. Cards with gray thumbnails and only routes on maps typically result from WIFI interferences between the app and the dash cam while you were driving.
Explore the steps below to ensure your drives are consistently recorded in the app and learn how to retrieve videos that were not recorded.
What to Do to Avoid the NEXS1 or NEXC1 Not Recording in the Nexar Classic App?
To ensure that your drives are automatically saved on the Nexar Classic app, we recommend the following:
Please ensure that you are only using the original cable, mount, and Nexar-provided power accessory that came with the camera to avoid any potential issues.
1. Make sure you have sufficient phone storage for your drive recordings.
2. Enable your phone's WIFI, Bluetooth and Location
3. Disconnect from other WIFI networks on your phone.
4. Turn off Low Power Mode (iOS) or Power Saving Mode (Android) in the phone's Settings app.
5. Disable WIFI-interfering functions like Carplay, Android Auto, VPN apps, antivirus apps, or security apps.
6. Inspect the NEXS1 or NEXC1's power port, cable, mount, and charger for physical damage.
7. Ensure the car's power port is consistently supplying power.
8. Set up automatic streaming for a smoother driving experience.
What to Do When Parts of the Video Recordings Are Missing in the Nexar Classic App
Remember that your drive recordings are transferred from the NEXS1 and NEXC1 to the Nexar Classic app via WIFI, when the Nexar Classic app and dash cam aren't connected during certain drives or get disconnected due to interference, part of your drives will not be saved in the app.
The Nexar Classic app and Nexar dash cam utilize a loop recording mechanism that automatically overwrites older drives to make space for new ones.
If parts of your recent drives were not saved to the app, don't worry. You can still recover them from NEXS1 or NEXC1's SD card.
How to Retrieve NEXS1 or NEXC1 Videos That Were Incomplete or Not Recorded in the Nexar Classic App?
If your recent drives were not saved to the app, don't worry. You can still recover them from NEXS1 or NEXC1's SD card by doing the following:
Accessing the Videos from the SD Card for NEXS1 and NEXC1
1. Eject the SD card from your dash cam by pushing the SD card insert
2. Insert the SD card into an SD card reader (available for purchase in any electronics store or use the adapter received in the package and insert the SD card into your computer)
3. Plug the SD card reader into the computer’s USB outlet
4. A folder containing the videos on your SD card will show up - transfer all of the desired videos to the computer’s drive
The Nexar Pro, Beam, NEXS1, and NEXC1 are the only dash cams that have a removable SD Card. The Nexar One and NEXC2 have internal memories that are not removable. Do not attempt to remove the internal memory from Nexar One and NEXC2, as it can cause damage and void the warranty.
If the issue persists, please reach out to our support team. Providing the date and time of the affected drives would greatly help with the investigation.
