Nexar One: Transition from Nexar Classic to Nexar Connect

Nexar One moved to Nexar Connect. Learn how to switch apps and access your videos.

Updated today

Nexar One is now supported on the Nexar Connect app instead of Nexar Classic.

Your camera will continue recording normally — only the app experience has changed.

Why can’t I use the Nexar Classic app?

Nexar One is no longer supported on Nexar Classic. When you open the app, you’ll be prompted to download and use Nexar Connect instead. Your camera is not affected and will continue recording as usual.

Important: Access to Nexar Classic videos

Nexar One videos in the Nexar Classic app will remain available for 30 days from the release of the latest app update (March 17, 2026).

This means you will have access to your videos until April 16, 2026.

During this time, you can:

  • Open your drives in Nexar Classic

  • Save or share clips

After April 16, 2026, these videos will no longer be accessible in the Classic app.

We strongly recommend saving any important clips as soon as possible to avoid losing access.

Will I lose my videos?

No. Your videos are still available, but how you access them depends on where they’re stored.

Cloud-backed clips

  • Available in Nexar Connect under the Incidents and Activity tabs

  • Your account and subscription remain unchanged

Regular drives

  • If the footage is still on your camera’s internal storage, you can access it using Direct Access

  • If the footage was not backed up and has already been overwritten, it cannot be recovered

My Activity tab is empty

This can be expected depending on your setup.

If you have a subscription

  • Cloud-backed clips appear in the Activity and Incidents tabs

  • New drives appear after your first drive using Nexar Connect

  • Drives are shown as time-lapse previews, not full recordings

If you don’t see anything yet, take a short drive of at least 5 minutes to generate activity.

If you don’t have a subscription

  • The Activity tab may appear empty

  • Your camera is still recording normally

To view your footage:

  1. Go to the Activity tab

  2. Tap Access

  3. Follow the on-screen prompts

Important:

  • The Activity tab shows cloud-backed clips and new activity from Nexar Connect

  • Older drives that were not backed up will not appear here automatically

  • These can still be accessed using Direct Access if they remain on the camera

What is Direct Access?

Direct Access is a local connection to your camera that allows you to view footage stored on the camera.

You can:

  • Browse your drives

  • Watch full footage

  • Download specific parts of your drives

How to view your footage using Direct Access

Option 1

  1. Go to the Activity tab

  2. Tap Access

  3. Follow the on-screen prompts

Option 2

  1. Select a drive from the Activity tab

  2. Tap Get High Resolution Clip

  3. Tap Local Download

  4. Follow the on-screen prompts

Important: Direct Access reads from the camera, not your phone

Why does playback look different?

Nexar Connect handles video playback differently from Nexar Classic.

In Nexar Classic

  • Drives were streamed and cached on your phone

  • Full drives were available in regular playback, not time-lapse

In Nexar Connect

  • Drives appear as time-lapse previews

  • Full footage is not automatically stored on your phone

This helps reduce phone storage usage, improve performance, and optimize battery usage.

To view full footage, use Direct Access and download the segment you need.

Do I need a subscription?

Some features in Nexar Connect depend on both:

  • A compatible device (LTE add-on)

  • An active subscription

These features may include:

  • Remote streaming

  • Automatic cloud backups

  • Remote access to your drives

If you have an LTE add-on

  • Your device supports connected features

  • An active subscription is still required for those features to work

If you do not have an LTE add-on

  • Connected features may not be available

  • You can still view footage locally using Direct Access

Important:

  • Having an LTE add-on does not mean you have an active subscription

  • A subscription is required to enable connected features

  • Feature availability may vary depending on your setup

If you’re unsure about your setup, contact support and we’ll help you check your options.

I can’t see my recent drives

This depends on how you’re trying to view your footage.

If you have a subscription

  • Drives appear in the Activity tab after recording

  • If you don’t see anything yet, take a short drive to generate activity

If you don’t have a subscription

  • Drives will not appear automatically in the Activity tab

  • Your camera is still recording normally

To view your footage:

  1. Go to the Activity tab

  2. Tap Access

  3. Follow the on-screen prompts

Important:

  • Full drives are stored on the camera’s internal storage

  • They must be accessed through Direct Access

  • If a drive was overwritten, it cannot be recovered

Should I uninstall Nexar Classic?

Yes. Nexar Classic will no longer support Nexar One and can be safely removed after migration.

I’m having trouble connecting or onboarding

Most cameras should work normally after migration.

Some older Nexar Ones may have firmware limitations. If you’re unable to connect, contact support and we’ll guide you through the next steps
