This article serves as a guide on how to enable the necessary permissions for Nexar Classic to work correctly and to ensure it works seamlessly when connected with the dash cam.
In order for Nexar Classic to work properly, it will need to have access to certain services on your phone. Each service on your phone is essential to different functions and features when used together with the dash cam.
How to Enable the Necessary Permissions for iOS?
To enable the needed permissions, go to the iPhone Settings > Nexar Classic and set the following:
Location - set to "Always", in order for the app to create a route of your drive, and record the location in case of a collision.
Bluetooth - set the toggle on, in order for the app to use Bluetooth to automatically find and connect to the dash cam in case WiFi is not available.
Local Network - set the toggle on, so that the Local Network will allow your iPhone to communicate with the Nexar dash cam to stream videos to your phone while driving.
Motion & Fitness - set the toggle on, to allow the app identify whether you are driving or not so it can start/stop the drive accordingly. This is especially important if you have a continuously charging vehicle. Read more about how to work your dash cam in a continuously charging vehicle.
Notifications - allow notifications, so we can let you know when certain events happen, such as: a drive starts/ends, a parking incident was detected, etc.
Background App Refresh - set the toggle on, to allow the app to be updated automatically in the background, to make sure you always have the latest app version.
You can always tap on the More tab on Nexar Classic to check if any of the permissions are not set up correctly. Simply tap the Allow button on the missing permission to enable it.
In addition to these permissions, ensure that Low power mode is disabled from the iPhone's Settings app in order for Nexar Classic to stream videos while it's used in the background.
How to Enable the Necessary Permissions for Android?
Each Android phone displays permission requirements differently. Open your phone’s settings and look for apps and/or look for the following permissions:
Battery Optimization - disable this for Nexar Classic, in order for it to stream videos while the app is used in the background.
Bluetooth - enable this, so the app will automatically find and connect to the dash cam whenever WiFi is not available.
Local Storage - enable this to allow Nexar Classic to access your phone’s internal storage, in order to save videos to your phone.
Location - allow all the time, as this is necessary to automatically stream videos to your phone whenever you start a drive and to record the incident’s location in case of a collision.
Location permission is not required for automatic streaming and recording for Android OS 13. Although, please note that disabling this permission prevents the app from creating map routes for your Drives, Clips, and 1-Click Reports.
Notification - allow notifications, so the app will let you know when certain events happen, such as: a drive starts/ends, a parking incident was detected, etc.
Physical Activity - enable this to allow the app to identify whether you're driving or not so it can start/stop the drive accordingly. This is especially important if you have a continuously charging vehicle.
WiFi - enable this so Nexar Classic can access your phone’s WiFi settings, which are needed since streaming is done via WiFi.
You can always tap on the More tab in Nexar Classic to check if any of the permissions are not set up correctly. Simply tap the Allow button on the missing permission to enable it.
