Stay Connected With Nexar Connect App
Updated over a week ago

This article provides tips on how to ensure that your phone is always connected with the dash cam.

Your Nexar beam2 and Nexar One can be paired or connected to a compatible iOS or Android phone through the Nexar Connect app. It allows you to enjoy features like real-time parking notifications, seamlessly creating and sharing clips with friends and family, getting your videos backed up to the Nexar Cloud, and many more.

How does pairing and connection work?

The Nexar Connect app pairs with the dash cam through WiFi. Once paired, the dash cam streams and saves the videos to the server for you to watch or trim later.

Make sure you have onboarded the Nexar Connect app to your Nexar dash cam so your drives will always be backed up.

Nexar Connected Dash cams don't require a constant phone connection for recording your drives. They save the drive to the cloud server via LTE, allowing you to retrieve it later.

Required Nexar app permissions for iOS

Simply tap the Allow button on the missing permission to enable it.

  • WiFi - the app uses WIFI to stream and transfer videos from the dash cam to your iPhone.

  • Local Network - enable upon onboarding to allow your iPhone to communicate with the Nexar dash cam.

Required Nexar app permissions for Android

Simply tap the Allow button on the missing permission to enable it.

  • WiFi - the app uses WIFI to stream and transfer videos from the dash cam to your Android phone.

  • Location - set to "Allow all the time" for the app to create a route for your drive and record the location in case of a collision.

Here are a few more things you need to know

For the most optimal Nexar experience, please keep in mind the following important reminders:

1. The Nexar Connect app will not pair or record your drives and will not be saved to the server entirely if you don't correctly set any of the required app permissions.

2. Your phone's WiFi antenna can only connect to one device at a time.

3. Since the Nexar Connect app uses WiFi to connect to the dash cam, wireless CarPlay, and Android Auto are not compatible with the Nexar Connect app and dash cam as they also use the phone's WiFi to work.

4. VPN, hotspot, antivirus, and other security apps can cause WiFi interferences, so they should be disabled when driving with Nexar.
