This guide provides general information about the compatibility of Apple CarPlay with Nexar Connected dashcams (Nexar One and Beam2) and the circumstances where CarPlay should be temporarily disabled.

You can use CarPlay in parallel with your Nexar Connected dashcams, as they function independently without needing to be paired with your phone for most tasks. However, there are specific scenarios where CarPlay needs to be temporarily disabled.

When Should CarPlay Be Temporarily Disabled?

CarPlay should be temporarily disabled in the following situations:

1. Camera Activation

During the onboarding process, your phone must connect to the dashcam to allow you to view the camera stream (local stream) on your phone. This step is necessary to ensure proper setup and positioning of your dashcam.

Since this process requires a direct connection, CarPlay will need to be temporarily disabled. Don’t worry—this is a one-time scenario that only occurs during the initial setup.

2. Direct Access

If you want to stream full-quality footage to your phone or trim and save a clip to your camera roll using the Direct Access feature, you’ll need to disable CarPlay temporarily. This ensures that your phone can maintain a stable connection with the dashcam during these tasks.

Important Note: After completing the onboarding process or using the Direct Access feature, you can re-enable CarPlay and continue using it as normal.
