Pairing your Nexar beam2 with the Nexar Connect App
Updated over a week ago

Here's our guide to help you get your Nexar dash cam connected to your phone easily.

Your Nexar dash cam can be paired to a compatible iOS or Android phone through the Nexar Connect App. It allows you to enjoy features like automatic recording, seamlessly create and share clips with friends and family, get your videos backed up to the cloud, and many more.

How Pairing Works

The Nexar Connect app pairs (connects) to the dash cam through WIFI. Once paired, the dash cam streams and saves the videos to your phone so you can watch or trim them later.

The Nexar Connect App works best with a compatible phone and a phone number that is registered in a supported country.

What are the Required Settings and Permissions for Pairing?

There are a few phone settings and permissions you need to set up first in order to ensure a seamless onboarding or pairing experience:

1. WiFi - Your phone can only connect to one WiFi network at a time. The Nexar Connect App and dash cam won’t connect if the phone is actively connected to wireless Carplay, Android Auto, or another WiFi network (such as your car, home, or office WiFi).

Please temporarily disconnect from the other WiFi network so that you can easily complete the pairing process.

2. VPN, antivirus apps, and other web security blockers - Third-party security and antivirus apps may have security features that could block the connection between your phone and the dash cam. Please temporarily disable them during the onboarding process.

After the onboarding is done, you can use CarPlay or Android Auto when driving.

3. Location Services - For Android OS 12 and below, it is important to set it to Allow all the time in the phone Settings once the app is installed, and GPS Location needs to be enabled.

Location permission is not required on Android OS 13 to record drives in the app. Please note that disabling this permission prevents the app from creating map routes for your Drives, and Clips. If you want routing data saved alongside your drive videos, simply set the Nexar Connect app's Location Permission to 'Always.'

4. Cellular Mobile Data - You need to have cellular data enabled to download the latest firmware and update the dash cam. Please avoid connecting your phone to any other WiFi networks.

5. Low Power Mode or Battery Optimization - These phone battery settings prevent the Nexar Connect App from working or recording while in the background, which leads to missing or incomplete drives, so make sure to turn these off when you're driving.
