How to Take Over Camera Ownership

This article guides you through the steps of taking over the camera’s ownership.

Updated this week

If you purchased or received a Nexar camera that was previously used by someone else, you’ll need to transfer ownership before you can set it up under your account. This process clears the old owner’s data and ensures the camera is fully registered to you.

Steps to Take Over the Camera Ownership

Follow these simple steps below:

  1. Open the Nexar Connect app and select your camera.

  2. Tap I’m in the car.

  3. Power on the camera, then tap Continue.

  4. Once the LED light is solid, tap Dash cam light is solid.

  5. Tap Continue when prompted.

  6. Connect to the dash cam via Wi-Fi.

    • On iOS: tap Enable when asked to allow local network access, then tap Join to connect.

  7. On the Confirm data deletion screen, select Confirm and continue.

  8. After hearing the restart sound, tick the box and tap Continue.

  9. Wait for the cleanup to finish. Once the LED is solid again, tap Continue.

  10. Follow the remaining on-screen steps until the process is complete.

  11. At the end, you’ll have two options:

    1. Activate LTE Protection Plan to enable your subscription

    2. Continue to basic experience if you prefer to use the camera without a subscription
