This guide will take you through the steps to pair your rear camera with the main camera, along with clear instructions on how to install and mount it in your car.
Pairing your rear camera to the front camera
There are three entry points for onboarding the rear camera:
Immediately after the main camera onboarding
The main camera is already onboarded and automatically detects the rear camera
From the app’s settings screen
Option 1: After the main camera onboarding
1. Tap ‘Complete account setup’
2. The app will prompt “Do you have a rear camera?” message - tap ‘Yes’
3. If the main camera’s firmware is not updated, a prompt will notify that it will be updated. You will need to tap ‘I understand’ to proceed
4. Once the firmware is updated, you will receive a notification/pop-up that your camera’s firmware is up to date and they can now pair their rear camera. Tapping ‘Go to Settings’ would redirect you to the pairing screen. From there, 'Set up my rear camera'
5. Power on the rear camera
6. The rear camera will start looking for the front camera’s WiFi
If the app shows “Couldn’t find your rear camera”, you can follow the steps below:
Tap Troubleshooting
Tap the appropriate answer on the next screen - “Have you used this camera with Nexar Classic?”
If no, follow the steps on the next screen, then tap “Try to pair again”
If yes, make sure to follow the steps in the article on the next screen - How to Unpair Nexar Dash Cam from the Nexar Classic App. Then you can go back to the app and tap “Try to pair again”.
Otherwise, you can proceed to the steps below.
7. Tap ‘Confirm pairing’ after the rear camera is detected. You will hear the voice prompt "Your Rear camera is now paired," indicating a successful pairing.
8. Follow the on-screen rear camera mounting steps. Press ‘Continue’ once done
11. Tap ‘Remote Stream’ to view and adjust the camera view and then tap ‘Continue’ to complete the pairing process
Option 2: The main camera is already onboarded and automatically detects the rear camera
1. Tap the “Confirm pairing” when the app prompts “Rear camera detected”
2. Follow the on-screen rear camera mounting steps. Press ‘Continue’ once done
3. Tap ‘Remote Stream’ to view and adjust the camera view
4. Tap ‘Continue’ to complete the pairing process
Option 3: From the app’s settings screen
1. Open the Nexar Connect app > More
2. Tap Rear Camera
3. Select 'Set up my rear camera'
If you only have one main camera, a prompt will notify you that the main camera firmware needs to be updated. You will need to tap ‘I understand’ to proceed
If you have multiple front cameras, you'll be redirected to Device Management. Here, you must select which main camera to pair with the rear camera. If the chosen camera's firmware is outdated, you will also see the update prompt and tap ‘I understand’ to proceed
Once the firmware is updated, you will receive a notification/pop-up that your camera’s firmware is up to date and they can now pair their rear camera. Tapping ‘Go to Settings’ would redirect you to the pairing screen. From there, tap 'Set up my rear camera'
4. Power on the rear camera so it can start looking for the front camera’s WiFi
