Moving Your Nexar One from Nexar Classic to Nexar Connect

Updated over a week ago

What Is Changing

Nexar is upgrading the Nexar One experience by moving it from the Nexar Classic app to the newer Nexar Connect app. This upgrade brings a smoother, more reliable, and fully connected dash cam experience.

Please note that Nexar Classic will no longer support Nexar One after January 31, 2026. After this date, Nexar One cameras can no longer be onboarded or used with the Nexar Classic app.

Why You Are Being Moved to Nexar Connect

Nexar Connect is built to give you a more modern and dependable dash cam experience. Unlike Nexar Classic, Nexar One no longer depends on your phone to stay connected to the internet. This means:

  • Less phone battery drain and lower data usage

  • Continuous recording even when your phone is not nearby

  • No phone storage needed to save recordings

  • More stable performance while driving

  • No wireless CarPlay or Android Auto restrictions during normal use

New Features You Get After Migration

Once your Nexar One is on Nexar Connect:

  • The camera records drives without needing your phone connected

  • With an active subscription, you can remotely access road and cabin views, plus the camera will be able to support rear camera.

  • You can remotely wake up the camera to upload new clips to the cloud

  • You get direct access to full-quality videos stored on the Nexar One SD card

  • Creating and sharing clips is simpler

  • Your drive and incident history stays available with an active subscription

How to Get the Nexar Connect App

Download Nexar Connect from:

Once installed, open the Nexar Connect app. Your Nexar One will already appear in the app, so there is no need to re onboard cameras that are already linked to your account.

What Happens If You Do Not Have an Active Subscription

If you do not have an active subscription after migration:

  • Your camera will continue recording normally

  • You can still access videos directly from the camera using Direct Access in the Nexar Connect app

  • Cloud history, remote streaming, and remote clip uploads will not be available

You can learn more about the basic and premium (LTE Protection Plan) experience in our Help Center articles covering subscription features.

What If the LTE Add On Is Missing

If your Nexar One camera is already activated, it will continue to record because the necessary firmware is in place. Note that firmware updates require the LTE add-on. You can still use the Nexar Connect app to utilize Direct Access, review recordings, and save videos to your phone.

However, if your camera has never been activated or has been factory-reset:

  • The Nexar One will not record.

  • You will not be able to access the camera via the Nexar Connect app.

  • The LTE add-on is mandatory for camera activation, firmware installation, and to begin recording.

Important Reminder

Starting January 31, 2026, Nexar Classic will no longer support Nexar One. After this date, Nexar One cameras cannot be used with the Nexar Classic app.

We strongly recommend saving any important Nexar One rides as clips in the Nexar Classic app before the deadline. This helps ensure your key recordings remain easy to access and share after the migration.
