Pairing Your NEXS1 and NEXC1 With Nexar Classic
Updated over a week ago

This guide will help you get your NEXS1 or NEXC1 dash cam connected to your phone easily.

Your NEXS1 and NEXC1 dash cam can be paired to a compatible iOS or Android phone through Nexar Classic. It allows you to enjoy features like automatic recording, seamlessly create and share clips to friends and family, get your videos backed up to the cloud, and many more.

How Pairing Works

Nexar Classic pairs or connects to the dash cam through Bluetooth and WiFi. Once paired, the dash cam streams and saves the videos to your phone so you can watch or trim them later.

After the initial pairing, always make sure that the phone’s Bluetooth and WiFi (and Location for Android) are all enabled before starting the engine, and the phone will automatically connect to the dash cam when it turns on.

Nexar Classic works best with a compatible phone and a phone number that is registered in a supported country. Please note that wireless Carplay and Android Auto are not compatible to be used with Nexar while driving as these can interfere with the connection between the app and dash cam. VPNs, hotspots, and antivirus apps should also be disabled to avoid any connection issues when driving.

What are the Required Settings and Permissions for Pairing?

Here are the required settings and permissions for pairing your NEXS1 and NEXC1 for a seamless onboarding experience:

1. WiFi - Your phone can only connect to one WiFi network at a time. Nexar Classic and dash cam won’t connect if the phone is actively connected to wireless Carplay, Android Auto, or another WiFi network (such as your vehicle, home, or office WiFi).

Please temporarily disconnect from the other WiFi network so that you can easily complete the pairing process.

2. VPN, antivirus apps, and other web security blockers - Third-party security and antivirus apps may have security features that could block the connection between your phone and the dash cam. Please temporarily disable them during the onboarding process.

After the onboarding is done, you can use CarPlay or Android Auto when driving, just make sure your phone's Bluetooth is on so you can retrieve videos from your dash cam at a later time.

3. Bluetooth - Your Bluetooth network should be enabled from the phone settings. For iOS devices, you can tap on Allow New Connections and the toggle will turn on again.

4. Location Services - For Android OS 12 and below, it is important to set it to Allow all the time in the phone Settings once the app is installed, and GPS Location needs to be enabled.

Location permission is not required on Android OS 13 to record drives in the app. Please note that disabling this permission prevents the app from creating map routes for your Drives, Clips, and 1-Click Reports. If you want routing data saved alongside your drive videos, simply set Nexar Classic's Location Permission to Always.

5. Cellular Mobile Data - You need to have cellular data enabled to download the latest firmware and update the dash cam. Please avoid connecting your phone to any other WiFi networks.

6. Low Power Mode or Battery Optimization - These phone battery settings prevents Nexar Classic from working or recording while in the background, which leads to missing or incomplete drives, so make sure to turn these off when you're driving
