This article explains how to get your videos from the dash cam's SD card and internal memory. It also answers the common questions regarding SD card retrieval and lists the compatible SD cards that can be used with the dash cam.


How to Access Videos From the Nexar Light, Nexar Pro, Beam, Scosche NEXC1 and NEXS1’s SD Card?

The Nexar Pro, Beam, NEXS1, and NEXC1 are the only dash cams that have a removable SD card. However, the Nexar One, Nexar beam2, and NEXC2 have internal memory that is not removable. Do not attempt to remove the internal memory from Nexar One, Nexar beam2, and NEXC2, as it can cause damage and void the warranty.

In order to retrieve your videos from the Nexar Light, Nexar Pro, Beam, Scosche NEXC1 and NEXS1's SD card and save it to your computer, follow these steps:

1. Eject the SD card from your dash cam by pushing the SD card insert in the upper part of the camera next to the “Power” button

2. Insert the SD card into an SD card reader (available for purchase in any electronics store or use the adapter received in the package and insert the SD card into your computer).

3. Plug the SD card reader into the computer’s USB outlet

4. A folder containing the videos on your SD card will show up - transfer all of the desired videos to the computer’s drive


Accessing Your Videos From the Nexar Connected dash cam's Internal Memory

These are the steps to access your videos from the Nexar Connected dash cam's internal memory. Nexar Connected dash cam's internal memory recordings are encrypted for your security. It cannot be removed, so it can only be accessed from the Nexar Connect app by following these steps:

Nexar Connected dash cams refer to Nexar One with LTE and active Nexar Connect subscription and Nexar beam2.

1. Plug the dash cam to power and stay nearby

2. Disable any wireless CarPlay, Android Auto, VPNs, security or antivirus apps or hotspots.

3. Turn on the phone's WiFi and Cellular data.

4. Open the Nexar Connect app

5. Tap Activity tab below the screen

6. Select the drive you want to trim

7. Optional: Tap Cabin if you want to retrieve the interior facing camera.

7. And then tap your clip option.

Accessing Your Videos From the NEXC2’s Internal Memory

NEXC2's built-in internal memory cannot be removed, but you can still access it on your computer by using the Nexar Memory Card Reader App. This is only currently available for Windows computers.

Do I need to buy an SD card for my dash cam?

Nope! An SD card is included when you order a Nexar Pro, Beam, NEXC1, or NEXS1 dash cam. The NEXC2, Nexar beam2, and Nexar One dash cams come with a built-in internal memory which is pre-set upon purchase.

What is the size of the SD card?

By default, the Nexar Pro, Beam, and NEXS1 dash cams come with a 32GB SD card, which can store approximately 4.5 hours of footage. The NEXC1 comes with a 16GB SD card, which can store up to 2 hours of drive recordings.

Can I change or upgrade the SD card to a higher storage capacity?

Nexar Pro, Beam, and NEXS1 dash cam SD cards can be upgraded up to 256GB while NEXC1 can carry up to 128GB.

Nexar One and Nexar beam2's internal memory can be upgraded up to 512GB at the time of purchase, but it cannot be changed later on. Nexar One and Nexar beam2's internal memory is not removable, nor have an SD card that can be upgraded after purchase.

NEXC2 has an internal memory of 128GB and cannot be upgraded.

Can I use the dash cam without the SD card?

We highly advise against this! Not having the micro SD card while the dash cam is ON, could permanently damage your dash cam. Also, you must keep the card in the camera during firmware upgrades. Otherwise, permanent failure may occur.

Do I need to delete videos from my SD card?

No. The dash cam will automatically delete old rides off the SD card so you’ll always have space.

Is there audio available on the SD card?

Yes, audio is saved directly to your SD card.
