This article will guide you in resolving issues with retrieving your Nexar Pro, Beam, and NEXC2 video recordings.
Why Are My Nexar Pro, Beam, or NEXC2 Drives Only Showing the Map or Route of the Drive but Not the Video?
The Nexar Pro and Beam always records to its SD card and NEXC2 to its internal memory as soon as it's powered on. If connected to the Nexar Classic app while driving, it will also back up videos to your phone's memory.
Drive recordings not saved in the Nexar Classic app appear as cards with gray thumbnails, displaying only the drive's route on a map. Cards with gray thumbnails and only routes on maps typically result from WIFI interferences between the app and the dash cam while you were driving.
Explore the steps below to ensure your drives are consistently recorded in the app and learn how to retrieve videos that were not recorded.
What to Do to Avoid the Nexar Pro, Beam, or NEXC2 not Recording in the Nexar Classic App?
To ensure that your drives are automatically saved on the Nexar Classic app, we recommend the following:
Please ensure that you are only using the original cable, mount, and Nexar-provided power accessory that came with the camera to avoid any potential issues.
1. Make sure you have sufficient phone storage for your drive recordings.
2. Turn off Low Power Mode (iOS) or Power Saving Mode (Android) in the phone's Settings app.
3. Disable WIFI-interfering functions like Carplay, Android Auto, VPN apps, antivirus apps, or security apps.
4. Enable your phone's WIFI, Bluetooth and Location
5. Disconnect from other WIFI networks on your phone.
6. Inspect the Nexar Pro, Beam, or, NEXC2's power port, cable, mount, and charger for physical damage.
7. Ensure the car's power port is consistently supplying power.
8. Set up automatic streaming for a smoother driving experience.
What to Do When Parts of the Video Recordings Are Missing in the Nexar Classic App
Remember that your drive recordings are transferred from the Nexar Pro, Beam, and NEXC2 to the Nexar Classic app via WIFI. When the Nexar Classic app and dash cam aren't connected during certain drives or get disconnected due to interference, part of your drives will not be saved in the app.
The Nexar Classic app and Nexar dash cam utilize a loop recording mechanism that automatically overwrites older drives to make space for new ones.
If parts of your recent drives were not saved to the app, don't worry. You can still recover them from Nexar Pro, Beam, NEXC2's SD card, or internal memory (for NEXC2).
How to Retrieve Nexar Pro, Beam, or NEXC2 Videos That Were Incomplete or Not Recorded in the Nexar Classic App?
If your recent drives were not saved to the app, don't worry. You can still recover them from Nexar Pro or Beam's SD card, or NEXC2's internal memory by doing the following:
Accessing the Videos from the SD Card for Nexar Pro and Beam
1. Eject the SD card from your dash cam by pushing the SD card insert in the upper part of the camera next to the “Power” button
2. Insert the SD card into an SD card reader (available for purchase in any electronics store or use the adapter received in the package and insert the SD card into your computer)
3. Plug the SD card reader into the computer’s USB outlet
4. A folder containing the videos on your SD card will show up - transfer all of the desired videos to the computer’s drive
The Nexar Pro, Beam, NEXS1, and NEXC1 are the only dash cams that have a removable SD Card. The Nexar One and NEXC2 have internal memories that are not removable. Do not attempt to remove the internal memory from Nexar One and NEXC2, as it can cause damage and void the warranty.
Accessing the Videos from the Internal Memory for NEXC2
The Nexar Memory Card Reader for the NEXC2 dash cam is only compatible with a Windows computer.
1. Download the Nexar Memory Card Reader to your computer or laptop
2. Plug the dash cam into your computer or to an external power source
3. Connect your computer to the dash cam’s WiFi network. Look for the network DIRECT-XXXXXX and enter password 12345678 (unclick 'Remember this network')
4. Wait until your dash cam’s flashing light is steady
5. Double-click your dash cam’s power button
6. Click “Connect” on the Nexar Card Reader app on your computer
You can now view all the drive footage and recordings in NEXC2's internal memory.
